Installing a waterfall shower head can be a great way to add value to your bathroom and enhance your morning shower experiences. CLICK HERE to view popular showerheads at Amazon. Kohler, Hans Grohe, Lacava are my personal favorites for shower heads. You can buy them online or at your local H-D or Lowes. Shipping the new showerhead was not an option for me, as I like to be able to get things right away.

I experienced my first rainfall shower in a Vegas penthouse suite at the Palms.  Combining the endless hot water supply of hotel showers & six simultaneous shower jets was one great way to start the morning, afternoon, and night.  Yes, I really did take 3-4 showers a day lasting no less than 30 minutes each.  There was a floor to ceiling window in the shower which overlooked the mountains heightening my overall experience.

When I came back home I immediately started hunting around to see how much it would cost to replicate the waterfall shower at home.  Unfortunately, it was not a feasible project for me.  The shower head which I wanted was $3,000.  I also didn’t have the water pressure or a large enough hot water tank to power such a large rainfall shower.  I was still determined to recreate the home spa experience, so I settled on a shower panel from Lowes.

I ended up going compromising by upgrading my existing chrome plated shower head. For $650.00 I settled on a waterfall like shower experience (i.e. same concept, less pressure). The shower panel is a relatively straightforward item to install. I watched the plumber cut back the pipe, remove the “T”, put on new fittings, mount and hang the shower panel. Of course it took him longer to do than it does for me to type it out : )

While my upgraded rainfall showerhead didn’t have the same power & water volume (compared to the Palms), it was nevertheless a great upgrade. The waterfall head did disperse the water however the pressure was definitely weaker than what I would have liked.

I usually drop bath balls (the baking soda pellets with scent) onto the shower floor to give off a lavender aroma.  Combining the lavender with a couple candles is a great way to turn your own shower into a divine experience for your senses.  This also helped to make up for the weaker pressure from the waterfall head.

I am definitely going to check the pipe diameters in my next house, along with the water tank size.  For my next bathroom I would like to one day have a “real” waterfall shower head.
