You can either fill your batteries by hand or you can set up a forklift battery watering system as well, so that you can fill your Toyota pallet truck batteries without having to take them off the electric forklift. Another way you can avoid running with dangerously low water levels is by installing a warning device which can measure the water level for your Toyota electric forklift truck.

One of the biggest downsides with regards to using an electric forklift truck is that the batteries will only last about 6 to 8 hours per day. If you plan on running double shifts in your warehouse, you will need to purchase a battery charging unit as well. What this means is that you will need to unload your batteries and place them onto a battery service stand.  You can then go ahead and swap would batteries which have been sitting in charging. Keep in mind that your batteries need about eight hours to pull down after they are charged. If you are going to be storing your forklift truck for extended periods of time, make sure that you do not let them fully discharge.

Over an extended period of time, corrosive acid may begin to form on top of the battery post contacts. It is a good idea to keep them clean with a solution of water and baking soda. When your forklift batteries are being charged, keep in mind that hydrogen gas will be released. It is extremely important that your forklift charging area is well ventilated.

Toyota forklift batteries are made out of lead acid, which is the same material used in automobile batteries. These perform well when they are in an optimum temperature range of about 75°F. There are many different companies which make forklift batteries including Hawker, Enersys, and Deka.

You should always use extreme caution when you're working around your Toyota electric forklift batteries. Keep in mind that there is a lot of energy stored inside of the battery which can be lethal if you are not careful. Make sure that whenever you are near forklift batteries you do not smoke. Keep in mind that hydrogen gas is very flammable. The acid from your batteries are also very dangerous as well. Whenever you are removing or changing your forklift truck batteries make sure you wear protective safety gear. Sometimes people make the mistake of adding water on top of the battery acid. You should always add that battery acid first, before you add any additional water. When your charging your forklift batteries make sure that you check on the gas venting caps.  Make sure that before you recharge your forklift battery the vent cap is tight, in order to ensure that the forklift battery does not still out any electrolytes.
