Telescopic forklifts

Telescopic forklifts are used to lift large, heavy bulky loads. They have a longer reach than traditional forklifts. Telescopic forklift trucks usually have internal combustion (ic) engines and pneumatic wheels. These trucks are made by companies such as Bobcat, Clark, Yale, and Hyster. Telescopic forklifts are also known as telehandler and extendable reach forklift trucks.  These trucks are much physically larger compared to regular forklifts.

These forklifts have the ability to lift loads with weight capacities up to 100,000 lbs (used to maneuver shipping containers). Extreme caution must be used when using these trucks. These trucks have a very different center of gravity point compared to regular forklifts. Telehandler trucks usually have counterweights on the rear in order to minimize the chance of the trucks tipping over. This helps by allowing you to lift larger loads by lowering the center of gravity.

As the boom is extended out, the maximum load weight decreases. Telescopic forklift trucks are extremely useful as they allow you to maneuver pallets in a double deep configuration. Telescopic forklift trucks are used in various industries such as mining, agricultural, landscaping, and construction. In construction environments these trucks can also be outfitted with various attachments. Some of the attachments can include rotating carriages and buckets. It is extremely important that your forklift operators adhere to OSHA rules and regulations when operating telehandlers. OSHA does not have a certification process for approving classes, however they do publish standards.

If you are interested in purchasing a telescopic forklift you can usually obtain financing from the dealer. This arrangement can come in handy if you don't wish to use a third party leasing firm. In house financing options include capital leases, operating leases, and master lease options if you need a large number of machines. When you are reviewing the purchase process you may also want to consider whether or not you may want to use an outsourced firm for performing preventative maintenance work. This is usually a good idea if you do not have the in-house expertise or experience to perform your own service.

These machines are extremely expensive to purchase however you can also rent them for one time use as well. You can rent them locally from any place which has general construction equipment rentals. Renting a machine can make much more sense if you do not need the extendable reach capabilities of a telehandler on a regular basis.
