Buying them online is usually cheaper compared to buying them from the cell phone store. When you are buying replacement cell phone batteries be sure to check if they are OEM or aftermarket batteries. Depending on the phone, you may want to stick with OEM batteries. Aftermarket batteries may not work as well, and may cause conflicts with your cell phone charger.
If you have a new phone, you shouldn’t have a hard time finding batteries (i.e. EnV, Reality, Omnia, Alias, etc). If you have an older Samsung phone you may have to look a little harder to find a replacement battery.
Samsung battery life
If you have a PDA type phone, you will notice that your battery will not last as long. This is because PDA phones use more power, as they are generating more activity. If when you are not actively using your phone, you will have transmissions from internet activity such as push/pull emails. I’ve both regular cell phones and PDA types. While I appreciate the functionality of advanced mobile phones, I certainly do miss the extended battery life of my regular old cell phone.
You can purchase batteries from third party auction sites such as Ebay, or you can buy them from online dealers such as Amazon.com. Keep in mind that your extended warranty coverage from your cell phone provider may not cover the cost of replacement batteries. If you want to extend the life of your cell phone batteries, here are some tips you should follow:
Only charge your batteries when they are almost completely drained. Do not continuously recharge your partially used Samsung battery, as it will take up a precious charging cycle. Cell phone batteries have a limited number of charging cycles. Each time you charge your batteries, you are using up a single cycle. This can be really tricky with PDA phones. Because they drain so fast, I always find myself breaking the habit of not charging partially charged phones. I always would carry multiple chargers and a car charger as well (I use my phone for a lot of work email, so it’s important that I have a fully charged phone at all times).
Do not overcharge your cell phone battery. Overcharging your battery will also reduce the overall useful life of your batteries. Whenever possible, you should also try to keep your cell phone out of extremely hot environments (such as leaving the phone in your car). Extreme heat can also cause your cell phone battery to deteriorate.
