Personalized street signs

Personalized street signs are great unique gifts.  Stealing real street signs is illegal, and metal signs are extremely heavy.  Personalized street signs are usually made of a light weight plastic or acrylic material.  If you have a common name, you can purchase a sign with minimal lead time.  If you are looking for a sign and your gift recipient has an unusual name, you may need to wait a few weeks for lead time.  If you are willing to pay an additional rush fee, you may be able to receive your custom gift sign in 2-3 days. This is also true if you want a sign in a color other than the traditional green and white.

You can purchase personalized gifts over the Internet if you cannot find these at your local mall.  For proper fitting and alignment you should limit the number of letters printed to no more than 22 characters.    Make sure you double check the spelling before you commit to ordering your sign, as they are non-refundable (unless the error is made by the printing company).  Usually, the sign maker will send you a proof copy for sign off.  It is extremely important for you to check the sign for proper spelling and layout.  If you have custom artwork, you may be able to have it printed on the sign for an additional silkscreen charge.

If you need multiple signs, you may be able to get discount pricing as well.  Your sign will last indefinitely if you plan on using it indoors.  You should keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent the personalized street sign from UV light fading.  Using the sign outdoors may not be a good idea as it has not been weather treated.  You can clean your custom sign using a regular towel and rubbing alcohol.  Keeping your personalized sign clean and free of any dirt will help maintain the original shiny finish.  You can also wax your sign as well, if you are planning to display it in an outdoor location.

Aluminum personalized street signs

Plastic is the normal material used, however you can also purchase customized aluminum signs as well.  Keep in mind that these will usually cost more money, and are much heavier.  This is a good option, if you plan on mounting the sign in an outdoor location.  Keep in mind that you may not be able to install your sign in certain locations, without checking with your town municipality.  This is especially true if your replica street sign is made out of metal, as there is a chance it may confuse motorists.
