Metal bar stools

Metal bar stools are a good idea if you need to purchasing seating for an indoor or outdoor environment.  Before you start to look for chairs, it is very important that you measure the counter height on your bar so that you don’t purchase the wrong chair height.  You want to avoid purchasing tall bar stools that are too high, as that can cause people to accidentally hit their knees on the bottom of the countertop. Some of more common chair heights include 24”, 26”, 29”, and 30” stools.  One of the reasons people prefer metal bar stools is that they are very easy to clean with a plain damp cloth. Make sure that you try and sit in as many chair as you can as contemporary bar stools can sometimes be very uncomfortable (designers always strive to find the best fit between form and function).

Wooden bar stools are generally more popular in older homes (i.e. think Brady Bunch style).  These chairs are usually made in a variety of different woods.  Oak swivel bar stools are very popular for people who may have their own setup in their basement.  You can also refinish or re-stain these if you want to freshen up older chairs. If you find that you are sitting a long time in these chairs, you may want to consider purchasing padded bar stools for additional comfort and support on your back.  Lumbar support can make sitting for extended periods of time much more palatable.

People who have pool tables in their basement entertainment areas may want a more classic theme, with class.  In this case, consider using leather bar stools in a classic color such as black, tan or brown.  If you want to make your home entertainment center keep a restaurant or bar theme pub bar stools may be a good fit.

If you are purchasing chairs for a commercial environment such as a restaurant, be sure to purchase heavy duty commercial bar stools. These stools will usually have much heavier hardware and use a thicker gauge steel material to resist bending or fracturing.  Restaurant bar stools generally also have higher quality welds to help prevent metal pieces from coming apart through heavy usage.  Make sure that you purchase chairs from a store which specializes in commercial furniture in order to prevent accidentally purchasing residential chairs.

If you plan on remodeling your house you may want to consider purchasing a new table and kitchen bar stools. This along with a fresh coat of paint on the walls can be a great way to upgrade your environment without breaking the bank. If you live in a very small apartment with tight corridors you may want to consider folding bar stools.  This is a good option if you want to put away your chairs during the daytime. This option can greatly enhance the amount of usable square footage if you live in a space less than 600 sq ft.

Bar stools are extremely versatile pieces of furniture.  You can buy multiple sets if you wish to have extra’s for parties and other special occasions.  If you have small children, be very careful and never let them play on swivel bar stools.  Children can be seriously injured if they accidentally fall off the chair during horseplay.
