Lexus to recall and suspend sales on LS Series

Lexus has announced a recent issue with the steering system on certain LS & LSh (Hybrid) models. It was only recently Toyota (parent company of Lexus) announced issues with the Prius hybrid line.

Apparently, certain vehicles with electronic steering systems have experienced issues with off center steering. There have been no accidents or injuries yet reported due to the steering system issue.

Toyota/Lexus has been under an immense amount of scrutiny.  The SUV GX 460 was recently listed in Consumer Reports as a “Don’t Buy” vehicle (CR lifted the Don’t buy status as of May 2011).

This may hurt future sales from the pre announced Lexus CT 200h.  The CT 200h is Lexus’ first attempt at targeting it’s vehicles to the under 40 crowd.

Lexus/Toyota is receiving a lot of scrutiny because of the Prius recall issue. As any who has purchased vehicles before, most vehicles will eventually have some sort of potential issue one or another.

Despite all the negative recent publicity, I would not hesitate to purchase another Lexus vehicle. I would still be driving my IS 250 AWD, had I not been involved in a side collision. I will say, the car did everything it was supposed to do, and I was well protected during the crash.
