Hemorroid relief

Hemorroid relief can include treatment such as fiber, drinking liquid, OTC medicines and bed rest.  As a last resort, surgery may be necessary to treat hemorrhoids.  5% of all Americans will be affected at some point during their life with hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids can be quite painful, and they often will be swollen when external.  Internal hemmoroids will usally not be painful, as they do not carry pain receptors.

The typical symptoms may include bleeding from the anal area.  In most cases they may resolve themselves within a few days.

Hemorrhoids are part of the intestinal tract.  They act to aid the passage of stool through the body.  During pregnancy, fetal pressure can also cause vessels to enlarge.

The best prevention method is to keep stool soft, therefore relieving any form of straining when passing bowel movements.  Sitting and reading during the bathroom process may not be a good idea either .  Fiber in your diet can also alleviate symptoms by promoting soft bulky stool samples.

Supplements such as Metamucil or grain cereals are two methods for ingesting more fiber in your daily diet.  For those who are suffering from lactose issues, you may want to consider specialty milk products designed for those with lactose intolerance.

When your symptoms are flared, be sure to drink water but take care not to overhydrate as well.  Drinking too much water in a short amount of time can cause issues with the balance of electrolyte salts in your system.

OTC (over the counter) preparations such as Preparation H may improve physical symptoms but do not actually heal the underlying situation.  Another option for relief may include salt baths.  Salt has anti-bacterial properties.

Surgical methods usually involve various methods to cauterize the affected area.  If symptoms do not improve on their own, it may be necessary to consult with your physician for additional help.  While this may be an embarrassing topic, your Dr. is probably used to dealing with this issue from other patients.

It is important not to attempt to remove physical hemorroids yourself as that can cause uncontrolled bleeding from the area.  If you wish to purchase a cream to alleviate symptoms you can usually do so from pharmacies such as Rite Aid or CVS.  If you wish to remain anonymous and avoid embarrassment, you can also considering purchasing the products online from the privacy of your own home.

There are many online pharmacies as well, which can assist you with providing over the counter topical ointments.
