Funeral flower arrangements

Funeral flower arrangements are usually delivered to the funeral home on the same day of the service.  Funeral floral arrangements are usually presented as an expression of sympathy to families mourning the loss of a beloved member.  Sending flowers is a timeless tradition.

This arrangement should not be confused with the funeral casket spray, which is the floral arrangement placed directly on top of the actual funeral casket.

Typically your florist will use whatever flowers are in season during the particular time of year.  You can also make special requests for a nominal fee as well.  If you are not sure what to write on the condolence card you can always use a generic sympathy card to help you get started.

Carnations are very popular for funeral arrangements.  Keep in mind that your arrangement should be large enough to be visible but you do not want to overpower the flowers provided by the family members.  You should never directly bring the flowers yourself to the funeral home.  It is a better option to have the flowers delivered by a third party service.

When you contact the floral service clarify if they are funeral flower arrangements vs sympathy flowers (which are normally presented to the home instead).  If the deceased is a Jewish family member, refrain from sending flowers.  This is normally not a custom for Jewish funerals.

If you are planning your own funeral, you may wish to consider the flower arrangements as part of your overall prepaid funeral plan.
