Forklift truck attachments

By

Buying forklift truck attachments is a great way to increase the functionality of your existing forklift.  You can obtain used or refurbished forklift attachments, if you wish to save money compared to purchasing new.  The type of forklift attachments will vary, depending on the model you may have. The most popular forklift trucks are made by Toyota, Yale, Crown, Clark, Mitsubishi.

It is important to keep in mind that adding forklift attachments will reduce your overall load limit. Be sure to factor this in, to prevent rollover accidents. Forklift damage can be very costly as you can ruin inventory, machinery, along with potential loss of life.  You can purchase  pallet jack parts right over the Internet, if you do not have a local dealer.

Depending on your warehouse, here are some of the attachments you may want to explore purchasing for your electric forklift:

Sideshifter- this is useful for moving your pallets on a horizontal plane without physically adjusting or moving your forklift truck

Forklift rotator- if you need to dump material, or till pallets on their axis, a rotator will come in handy

Fork positioner- this allows you to hydraulically increase and decrease the width of your forklift tines. This is extremely handy if you are moving different sized pallets in your warehouse.

Clamp attachments- these are extremely useful, when you are working around floor loaded trucks. Many manufacturers these days are using floor loaded trucks in order to increase the shipping density

Cherry basket-this is useful if you need to use your forklift truck to lift your personnel. This is much safer compared to having your staff stand directly on the forks. These come in extremely handy, if you need to remove small items from high places.

Telescopic forks- these are extremely handy if you need to double stacked (i.e. deeply) it their pallets. If you intend on using telescoping forks, make sure you check your load capacity. Ideally, your pallet truck should have a strong counterweight balance to minimize the chance of rollover.  Counterweight balanced forklift trucks have a lower center of gravity.

Before you introduce new forklift attachments to your warehouse, it is a good idea to send your staff to a proper training session. Keep in mind the OSHA requirements state that certification is required for each individual forklift class that the operator will use.
