Forklift wheels and tires need to be inspected and replaced on a regular basis. It is extremely dangerous to use a forklift with worn-out wheels. The forklift wheels go through a lot of wear and tear due to heat buildup, and from moving heavy loads. Certain forklifts can move up to 80,000 pounds at a time. As you can imagine, this causes a lot of wear, and stress on the components.

The wheels can fail from the inside or the outside, depending on your exact usage. For example, using your forklift or pallet jack on rough surfaces can lead to degradation of the outside surface. If you are moving heavy loads, you can also destroy internal components because of heat buildup. Polyurethane wheels and tires

Polyurethane wheels have a high range of load capacity. They can be used in cold environments such as freezers, while maintaining the ability to have excellent resistance to cuts and tears. They can be used on rough and irregular floors if you do not have smooth polished concrete on your warehouse floor. These have very good wear and tear, as long as you use them in an indoor environment. These are commonly found on electric pallet jacks, because of their higher load capacities. You generally cannot use rubber tires on electric forklifts because of the weight restrictions.

Rubber solid pneumatic tires

This type of forklift wheel is very similar to what you would find a large truck. Deep tread grooves will allow you to use your forklift on uneven surfaces while maintaining traction.  Because they are made of a solid material, you do not need to worry about tire blowouts.-these wheels are great for electric fork lifts. Solid wheels have a lower center of gravity and can extend the time between charges on electric trucks because of the low rolling tire resistance. Depending on where you are working, you may also want to consider purchasing non-marking solid tires. The biggest disadvantage is that non-marking tires not last as long.

Air filled pneumatic forklift tires these are similar to the solid version however they offer more cushion and shock absorption. The only drawback, is that they can fail because of blowouts.
