Commercial bar stools are made for high use environments. They can stand up to repeated wear & tear from customers who use them all day long, day in and day out.

You can buy chairs which come in stainless steel, wood and other various materials. When purchasing metal chairs, always make sure to check the welds. Economy bar stools will usually have lighter welds which are prone to breaking over time.  Economy bar stools are usually made in China with 20 gauge steel.

High-end chairs will usually have clean welds. The stress of constant usage can cause the welding seams come apart and on lighter gauge steel.

Another good trick is to check the weight per stool. if you are looking at chairs online, make sure the weight is the actual weight of the bar stool not the shipping weight with the box.The weight per chair is usually a good indication with regards to the potential durability. Professional commercial grade bar stools will typically be much heavier than the consumer counterpart.

Heavy chairs will usually indicate thicker gauge steel used in the manufacturing process.  As the thickness of the steel increases to gauge number will go down. What this means is that a 16 ga steel is heavier than a 20 ga steel chair. The heavier the steel tubing used, the greater the likelihood of the chair being able to hold up over time.

Avoid bar stools with too many screws in a commercial environment. Over time those screws loosen and you will not be able to find them once they fall on the floor.  Look for bar stools which only have screws holding the seating platform to the legs (for swiveling seats).  Ideally you'll want to purchase a seat which does not have any moving parts including the seating platform.

Before you purchase any stools, make sure you check the height of the seating area.  A popular size is a 30 inch height.  If you have extra tall seating areas you may want to insert a using 36 in bar stools instead.

If you choose to purchase a barstool with a cushion examine the cushion thoroughly. Often times seating surfaces may be made of a high-grade material, however non-seating areas may have a lower quality fabric or leatherette.  If you're considering purchasing a chair with cushion, it is very important to check the foam.  Lower quality commercial bar stools will not have high density foam. This makes an extremely big difference in the long term life of the chair.  Lower costs foam material will sink and will no longer retain its ability to rise back.

Always check the warranty before you purchase your chair. Oftentimes, chairs will not be warranted if they are used in high traffic or commercial environments.  If you are going to purchase your chair is online you may want to consider purchasing a single chair first.  Make sure you are satisfied with the quality, before you order the rest of them.

Some Nice Designs

Restaurant chairs 12 months ago

Glad I found this post! I had been surfing the net for so long to help me find some ideas on how to choose quality bar stools, since I'm planing to purchase a new one for my mini bar at home. My old stools that I purchased a year ago were not that nice any more. Good you shared your knowledge here and thanks for that because I got a lot of ideas from this post.
